Fulcrum X Speed Company Racing
Fulcrum X Speed Company Racing
08 February 2024
Off-road with Speed Company Racing team
The 2024 season will see Fulcrum and Orbea-Leatt-Speed Company join forces racing off road with the two riders and co-founders of the team Lukas Baum and Georg Egger.
Lukas and Georg, winners of the 2022 Cape Epic and numerous other XC Marathon and gravel races individually, will race with various products from the Fulcrum range, such as the Red Zone Carbon+ for mountain bike races. Having recently tested a few prototypes, whose quality they greatly appreciated, the Speed Company riders will be fully involved in the development of new Fulcrum off-road products.
Well known in the Marathon world for their recent results, Lukas and Georg’s story is quite unique and began in Germany when they used to race against each other as juniors. They subsequently became friends and later set up Speed Company together, obtaining prestigious victories as outsiders, such as the Cape Epic. They have made a name for themselves in the international MTB scene with their alternative and at times irreverent style, always ready to challenge the status quo.
The unique aspect of Speed Company is their multidisciplinary approach to racing off road. As well as Marathon races, Lukas and Georg race XC and international gravel events. Lukas in particular is the current national gravel champion and winner of the 2023 Migration Gravel Race stage race.
Today marks the start of an important partnership in pursuit of maximum racing performance and a collaboration for the development of outstanding off road products.
For MTB races the Speed Company riders will use the Red Zone Carbon +, Fulcrum’s most advanced wheel, weighing only 1,385 grams, designed for maximum performance. Whilst the 1,490 gram Rapid Red Carbon, will be the wheel of choice for their gravel races.
