Fulcrum and the BUFF-MEGAMO team
Fulcrum and the BUFF-MEGAMO team
15 February 2022
It would have been quite out of character for Fulcrum’s return to the MTB world to be limited to simply launching the new Red Zone range of products. In the tradition that has always seen the brand closely linked to top-tier teams, we are happy to announce our new collaboration with the Buff-Megamo team for the 2022 season.
Over the years important riders and teams have ridden off-road on Fulcrum wheels. Chief among them Julian Absalon, who won his Olympic gold at the 2008 games in Beijing on a Fulcrum-equipped bike. Many other champions, such as Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå, José Hermida and Gerhard Kerschbaumer, and teams like Merida Multivan, TX Active Bianchi, Orbea Racing Team and Commencal, have been part of the Fulcrum family, competing at the pinnacle of the sport in XC, Marathon and Downhill. You can find out more about our MTB heritage here.
Similarly the partnership with the Buff-Megamo team goes beyond a simple sponsorship and naturally includes product development and its improvement. The Red Zone Carbon have in fact been used and tested by the riders of the Spanish team ‘behind the scenes’ during its development. The feedback that we gathered through specific tests on courses selected to highlight the different configurations that we worked on during the development phase, were fundamental to fine tune the state of the art product that is now available to all riders.
We were keen and determined to collaborate with the Buff-Megamo team, considering the abilities and level of its riders and staff, but also the qualities and ambition of the partners in the project. Buff guarantees a vision in line with the objectives of our brand, with a team based on riders hailing from 6 different nationalities, whilst Megamo has begun a very interesting product development project, which has provided the team with a new top level bike. The Red Zone Carbon are the perfect complement to guarantee the team the perfect ride to fulfil its ambitions for the 2022 season.
The start of the collaboration and of the season could not have gone better. The training camps laid the foundations and confirmed the positive feedback by the riders, who were won over by the ride feel and reactivity of the Red Zone Carbon. With the first few races under its belt and a full season ahead, Fulcrum is back in its natural habitat: the competitive arena which has given us many satisfactions over the years. The next important event is in South Africa, for the Cape Epic. After having returned to the races, this time we want to get back to savouring the sweet taste of a prestigious podium.
