Racing 7 and Racing 5 Evolution wheels are the entry level products in terms of weight and price in the Fulcrum® 2008 product range. Nonetheless their performance is not so far away from their "big sisters", Racing 3, Racing 1 and Racing Zero.

Let's look at their features. Both models are fitted with sealed bearings in order to guarantee great smoothness over time and reduce maintenance to a minimum. Racing 7 and Racing 5 Evolution are compatible with Campagnolo, Shimano 10v and SRAM (Shimano 8/9) drivetrains, thanks to the three freewheel bodies. These bodies are interchangeable without any need to adjust the wheels so that it is possible to pass from one standard to another very quickly simply by changing the body itself.

The two models differ essentially by the rim and spokes.

Racing 7 wheels are fitted with traditional stainless steel 2 mm spokes: 20 radially-mounted ones on the front wheel and 24 for the rear with the now renowned 2:1 arrangement. The rim is aluminium with traditional drilling and a glued joint. The weight of the pair is a remarkable 1,858 g without the quick releases. The look and performance of these have been improved while their weight has been further reduced. Racing 7 wheels are available in chromatic black and red versions.

Racing 5 Evolution wheels have Aero hammerhead variable-section spokes (2-1.5-2 mm). There are 20 radially fitted ones in the front wheel and 24 in a 2:1 arrangement for the rear. Racing 5 Evolution wheels are the first in the Fulcrum range to employ the Dynamic Balance™ patent, where the two spokes with an oversized section counterbalance the weight of the rim joint to obtain a wheel that is perfectly balanced during rotation. The rim is a medium profile 24 mm one with reinforcement eyelets, machined braking tracks and a glued joint. Their weight is 1,756 g, 100 grams less than Racing 7. Racing 5 Evolution wheels are ideal for long winter training sessions, but they don't disdain climbs and century rides thanks to their low weight and the tough appearance of their black and silver finish.
